A BPYN alumni offering

The work continues after week eight.

You’ve built new awareness, practiced new ways of responding, and started shaping the kind of family culture you want. The BPYN Alumni Circle is a place to keep bringing that work into real life—with support from Dr. Amber and parents who share the same language and intentions.

A seven-person virtual support circle, with Dr. Amber Thornton and six mothers from diverse backgrounds, including a majority of Black women.
Four mothers from diverse backgrounds sit together in a warm, attentive conversation.
A place to feel understood, think together, and keep growing.
Keep practicing, with support

You don’t have to figure out the next hard moment alone.

Parenting keeps giving us real moments to work with: the reaction you didn’t want to have, the limit you’re unsure how to hold, the old family pattern you notice returning. The Alumni Circle offers a steady place to pause, get perspective, and reconnect with what matters to you.

This is not another course or a new curriculum. It is a supportive monthly space to bring your questions, learn alongside other BPYN graduates, and continue applying what you began in the program.

“Your child is not the only one growing here. You are too.”

A familiar face in the circle

Guidance from someone who knows the work.

Dr. Amber Thornton, clinical psychologist and author of A Parent’s Guide to Self-Regulation, facilitates each gathering. She will help you bring the BPYN framework into the real questions and tender moments of family life.

What the circle offers

Connection, guidance, and room to keep growing.

Each gathering makes space for the real parenting questions members bring, while helping you stay connected to the intentions and tools you developed in BPYN.

01

Bring a stuck point

Talk through a current parenting challenge and receive thoughtful, psychologically informed guidance from Dr. Amber and the group.

02

Stay connected

Spend time with parents who understand the work of breaking patterns, regulating emotions, repairing, and parenting with intention.

03

Return to your compass

Reflect on what is working, what feels hard, and how you want to show up next—without expecting yourself to get it right every time.

A clear, consistent rhythm

One 90-minute gathering each month.

Some months may have a shared theme; other months may focus on questions and stuck points from the group. The circle stays responsive to what alumni are actually navigating.

Together, from wherever you are

A real conversation, through the screen.

The Alumni Circle meets live online, so you can join from home and connect with parents who understand the work you have already begun. You will see Dr. Amber and fellow graduates in the room with you, even when you are miles apart.

Optional, individual support

Want more focused time for your family’s situation?

BPYN graduates may also request a private parent consultation with Dr. Amber when appointments are available. This is a separately scheduled, one-to-one opportunity to focus on a specific parenting concern and consider practical next steps for your family.

A shared foundation

Reserved for BPYN graduates

The circle is an alumni space for parents who have completed Becoming the Parent You Needed. Members share a foundation in the program’s language and frameworks, so the group can focus on applying the work to everyday family life.

A few helpful details

Questions you may have.

Is the Alumni Circle therapy?

The Alumni Circle is a psychologist-facilitated group for continued parenting support and integration. It is not group therapy or a substitute for individual mental health care. If you need support beyond what a group can offer, Dr. Amber can discuss appropriate next steps with you.

Do I need to attend every month?

Attendance is not required, and you are welcome to join when you can. It is highly encouraged so you can receive the ongoing support and guidance you need, stay connected with other alumni, and keep applying the BPYN work to everyday parenting.

Will the sessions be recorded?

The circle is designed as a live conversation. Sensitive group discussions are not recorded, and members are asked to respect one another’s privacy and not share other participants’ stories outside the group.

How do private parent consultations work?

Consultations are optional, scheduled separately, and offered when Dr. Amber has availability. Contact her to ask about the current format, fee, and scheduling process.

How do I join?

Click Get Alumni Access, complete the quick registration through the secure Stripe checkout for $79 per month, and you are all set. You will receive a confirmation and the details you need to participate.
